GUIDE / 02 Β· YOUR FIRST PART

From a 2D sketch
to your first solid.

Practice the core SolidCraft workflow with a simple rectangular plate: sketch, dimension, extrude, edit, and save. The steps follow the official guide; labels can vary between versions.

Before you start

Open the official desktop app or browser app and create a blank design. This exercise is for learning the workflow, not producing an engineered part.

01

Create a sketch

Start a new design, choose Create Sketch, and select a plane such as XY.

02

Draw a closed rectangle

Use the rectangle tool to make a closed profile. Focus on closing the outline before adding dimensions.

03

Set its dimensions

Use Sketch Dimension to set the width and height. For example, enter 40 mm and 25 mm.

04

Extrude the profile

Finish the sketch, select its enclosed region, and use Extrude to make a solid, for example 8 mm thick.

05

Edit and save

Change a sketch dimension or the extrusion distance, confirm the timeline rebuilds, then save the design as a .solidcraft file.

WHAT YOU SHOULD SEE

A plate you can edit

The goal is to see how sketch dimensions drive a solid feature through the timeline. For version-specific controls, follow the current official guide.
